Changelog

What's new

Every Gooseplicant release, newest first, for both editions (Gooseplicant and Gosling). Before 1.0 a minor version may add features and database migrations; migrations run by themselves when the new version starts.

Staying current. On the one-server setup (0.5 and later), ./goose update --check shows what's new for your install and ./goose update installs it, with a backup first and an automatic rollback. Everything else: the upgrade guide.

0.7.0#

  • Fix an applicant's name. Recruiters and admins can edit a candidate's first and last name from the applicant panel in Gooseplicant and Gosling (the pencil next to the name). The new name applies to every application from that person and to search, shows on the Activity tab, and is recorded in the audit log (candidate.renamed). New API: PATCH /candidates/:id with { firstName, lastName } (both editions).
  • Names that look like a job title, a school or a company are flagged. Applicants sometimes type the position ("Forklift Operator") or their school ("Austin Community College") into the name fields. Those rows get a Check name badge in the inbox (a flag icon in Gosling), and the applicant panel explains what looks wrong with an Edit name button. The check is a hint only: nothing is blocked. Common surnames that are also trades (Baker, Cook, Mason, Porter, Driver...) are not flagged. Lists and details carry nameFlag ("jobTitle" | "school" | "company" | null).

  • Fix: ./goose update rolled back because of problems it didn't cause. It treated every doctor FAIL after the switch as a failed update — including ones that were already failing before (for example a missing DNS record for the public intake hostname). Now update runs doctor before the switch too and only rolls back for failures that are new, plus the health checks; failures that were already there are listed as "not caused by the update".
  • Fix: a successful automatic rollback was reported as failed for the same reason. A rollback now succeeds when the previous version runs healthy again (its doctor output is shown for information), and goose makes sure the stack is left running.

  • Sort later. Import applications even when their location isn't known: they land in a built-in Unsorted location. A Needs sorting folder in Gosling lists everyone in Unsorted or without a position; select them and use Set location… / Set position…, or edit location and position right in the applicant's panel.
  • Order positions inside a location by dragging them (or with the keyboard / menu), for everyone (admins).
  • Drag applicants onto a folder in Gosling's tree to file them: onto a location to move them, onto a position to set it.
  • Fixed: the reorder handle and "…" menu overlapped location names and counts in the tree.

0.5.1#

  • Fix: one-server setup with Cloudflare certificates failed with "Caddy rejected config" / "API token 'x' appears invalid". goose checked the Caddy config with a placeholder token that the Cloudflare DNS plugin refuses, so every real (non-test) setup stopped there. It now validates with a well-formed placeholder (your token still never leaves deploy/.env).
  • ./goose setup cleans pasted tokens (spaces, quotes, a copied "Bearer ") and warns when a token doesn't look like a Cloudflare API token; ./goose doctor flags a malformed stored token; new ./goose validate checks the rendered Authelia and Caddy configs.

  • Delete many applicants at once. Select applicants in Gosling or the inbox and delete them in one go (admins; each person is erased and audited exactly like a single delete).
  • Import: positions. Applications that arrive without a position get a text box with a dropdown of positions you already use; set one for many rows at once; new "Needs position" filter in the review step.
  • Refresh without reloading. A refresh button (or r) in Gosling and the inbox, plus a quiet check every minute while the page is open; new applications show as a "new applications" pill instead of moving the list under your cursor.
  • Resizable PDF preview. Drag the applicant panel wider or narrower, drag the preview taller, or expand a resume to nearly the whole window. Sizes are remembered.
  • Reorder locations. Drag locations in Gosling's left bar (or move them with the keyboard) to set the order everyone sees (admins).
  • ./goose update. Updates a one-server install in place: checks for a newer release, shows what changed, backs up, verifies the download, rebuilds, checks health and rolls back by itself if the new version doesn't come up. Also ./goose rollback and optional scheduled updates.
